Directed Energy Deposition AM System

Nidec Machine Tool America LLC offers the LAMDA directed energy deposition (DED) additive manufacturing (AM) system.

The LAMDA200 features advanced quality measures. Operators can observe recorded images offline and adjust feedback parameters and also record the melt pool image for quality traceability. A feedback control is used to stabilize the melt pool states. The in-situ monitoring feedback system helps ensure automation and optimization of the process parameter-especially useful for complex shapes.

An in-process feedback function adjusts laser power to control melting conditions. Powder feed is adjusted depending on part height. The PID controller will detect any anomaly via AI and sound an alarm. The in-process monitoring system provides full traceability for process analysis and improvement.

The melt pool is protected from oxidation by an inert gas shield.

LAMDA200 maximum AM dimensions are 200 mm x 200 mm x 200 mm.

The LAMDA lineup includes small research solutions through large production machines.
