U.S. Manufacturing Momentum Cranks Up in Lincoln

Lincoln, NE, is experiencing major industrial growth, highlighted by two significant milestones from local manufacturers: Timpte Inc., a long-standing leader in the agriculture and transportation industry, has officially opened its new $28 million manufacturing facility, and Kawasaki Rail Car, Inc. has reached a major production milestone with the completion of its 3,500th rail car.

Timpte moved its Lincoln, NE, operations to a larger 190,000 sq. ft. facility in April of 2025. The new location houses Thunderstone Manufacturing, LLC operations, equipment trailer product lines, and serves as the company's National Parts Distribution Center. The facility is expected to produce 8,000 to 10,000 grain trailer tarps annually. Timpte has added approximately 20 employees at the Lincoln site and anticipates the workforce will grow to more than 100 in the coming years. Located on more than 1 million sq. ft. of land, the facility also provides ample room for future expansion.

As for Kawasaki, its milestone comes after the company celebrated its 50th anniversary in Lincoln last year and completed a $200 million expansion of its Lincoln facility in 2021.

Timpte and Kawasaki are both partners of the Lincoln Manufacturing Council, an organization established in 2019 to help close workforce gaps in the local manufacturing sector. Since its founding, the council has supported more than 170 program graduates, including refugees, immigrants, and individuals reentering the workforce. The program provides essential services such as free transportation, childcare, and language and literacy instruction in Kurdish, Arabic, and Ukrainian.

"Through partnerships with employers like Timpte and Kawasaki, we are helping residents gain the skills and support they need to thrive while ensuring manufacturers have access to a strong, diverse, and capable workforce," said Caden Pearson, Workforce Development Coordinator at the Lincoln Manufacturing Council. "This collaboration is fueling real momentum for Lincoln's economy."
