Increasing Productivity While Keeping Workers Safe

For the past year, health and safety measures have redefined the word "priority."

As restrictions increase on previously normal activities, the manufacturing industry must undergo innovative changes in order to keep workers safe without decreasing productivity levels. However, these adjustments to the workplace are often difficult and costly to implement.

Exact Machine Tool Sales has a solution. Its name is OB7.

The Productive Robotics OB7 collaborative robot (cobot) continues to add benefits to its already lengthy list of helpful attributes.

According to Tom Cassidy, President of Exact Machine Tool Sales, OB7 is an employee that "does not require breaks, is available to work every day of the year and is COVID-19 free."

The smart 7-axis cobot was originally marketed to increase productivity and lower costs by allowing workers to focus on more valuable tasks than tending to running machines. With OB7, machines can run freely without anyone in the room.

Now, OB7 gives the manufacturing industry the opportunity to allow workers to easily practice social distancing, one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

In addition to requiring no complicated software or programming, the cobot is equipped with safety sensors that allow OB7 to work alongside humans without fencing or barriers. With seven joints and a 1 m reach, OB7 uses its flexibility and dexterity to reach around obstacles, close machine doors and start machine cycles within confined work areas.

Manufacturers that have implemented OB7 into their production line report higher production levels without having to let go of any employees.
