Metal threaded inserts prior to coating

Coated metal threaded inserts
E-Z LOK, a manufacturer and master distributor of threaded inserts for metal, plastic, and wood, has seen several benefits since the purchase of a LOCTITE application machine.
LOCTITE offers dozens of different types of adhesives and colors for various strengths. Threadlockers provide a dependable and long-term way of ensuring threaded fasteners remain fixed and secure. Applied between two mating threads, liquid threadlocker adhesives secure nuts, bolts, and threaded fasteners in place. They cure to form a strong bond that prevents loosening, helping ensure assemblies retain clamp load over time. Additional benefits include a reliable extended product life, prevention of galling and corrosion, easy disassembly, high temperature resistance, lower cost per unit, increased machine reliability, and reduced inventory cost.
E-Z LOK's machine applies LOCTITE to the external threads of the Solid Wall inserts, which proceed through a curing oven. The adhesive coating secures the external threads of the insert in place within the host material's tapped hole. The high strength LOCTITE 204 activates during assembly, giving the inserts stronger torque strength. Previously, this task was performed by outside processors for E-Z LOK.
Several factors contributed to the purchase of the application machine, namely the desire for greater control of the lead times associated with coating the parts, minimizing costs associated with transporting heavy batches back and forth between processors, as well as greater flexibility to run smaller batches. E-Z LOK's LOCTITE application machine has allowed the company not only to apply the coating more efficiently and cost effectively, but also in a semi-automated fashion, increasing throughput.
