Quick and Repeatable Hole Burner for Hard Materials

Innova by Ocean Technologies has introduced its River Series EDM Drills.

"If you have ever run into issues trying to burn though carbide or drilling a micro-hole into hardened steel, this series is for you," said a company spokesperson.

EDM hole drilling machines, or hole poppers, are an integral part of the manufacturing processes typical of the aerospace, medical, and tool making industries. The Innova by Ocean River 3 and River 35 machines are designed and engineered for precision holemaking, featuring an electrode diameter of 0.008" (River 3) / 0.0003" (River 35) - 0.118" and max. current of between 25 and 64 amps. Drilling parameters can be easily adjusted for a range of machining operations from the machine, or users can access preset parameters for easy operation. The flexible control box design allows operators to intuitively and conveniently utilize all functions of the hole popper, while increasing drilling stability in high speeds.

With manual, ZNC, and CNC versions of the River Series hole poppers available, these machines are built for any size manufacturer needing to drill holes in any material. River machines are available for a variety of needs, including drilling start holes for wire EDM processes or drilling thousands of finish holes.

Operators can also integrate artificial intelligence into their manufacturing with Ocean's new Ocean Intelligence (OI). This feature on the CNC version of the River Series allows users to ask it any question pertaining to the machine itself. Its runtime, how to change the guides, even maintenance advice, will all be answered by OI. The OI will comb through all data available in the control, including all available manuals, to provide easy-to-follow instructions and reliable information.

Ocean Technologies, through its partnership with Innova Machine Tool, provides North American with access to these machines along with local support and integration assistance-whether it is a single EDM or a full cell set-up.
