Precision Grinding Digital Readout Systems

Fagor Automation USA Corporation is now offering the 40i digital readout incorporated into precision grinding systems. Each Fagor digital readout grinding system is supplied as a complete kit with no additional hardware necessary.

"The key component of the grinder systems is the Precision MX series linear encoder," said a company spokesperson. "The MX scales incorporate a slim body mechanical design that has proven to be both durable, yet accommodating even for the tightest fit applications. The reader heads glide on roller bearings for an optimized smooth, accurate contact at all times. Each reader head is provided with a detachable armored cable assembly specified to the required application length. These scales offer a 1 micron resolution, plus allow for selectable programmable resolutions."

All Fagor scales are subjected to a final accuracy test. This quality control procedure is accomplished utilizing a computerized measuring bench equipped with a laser interferometer located inside a climate controlled chamber that is kept at a constant temperature and humidity level. The result of each individual scale is then provided to the customer with each delivery. Fagor guarantees the accuracy of all MX series scales to hold 5 microns accuracy. In addition, all Fagor DRO grinding systems are supplied with a shop tested sturdy digital readout arm and a grinding specific bracket kit to accommodate the installation of the scales.

For the grinding systems, Fagor utilizes the Innova 40i True Vision digital readout. It features a high-resolution TFT LCD color screen with high clarity display view from any angle or distance. With the TFT color screen, it is possible to execute Solid 3D program simulations at the digital readout and even view in multi-sectional solid views. Additional productivity features include part centering, plane and angle operator selection, 20 offsets and tool radius compensation.

All True Vision digital readout systems include a built-in calculator, 200 compensation points for machine accuracy error and feedback signal monitoring for safety and accuracy. Feedrate alarms alert the operator if maximum speed is being exceeded. Buzzer operator notifications, for warnings such as travel limits, are standard for safety precaution.

In addition, the 40i displays the actual axes position, plus a graphic bar is displayed to assist the operator in knowing the distance to go for improved simplicity and error free machining. For ease in machine set-up, the True Vision automatically detects the feedback devices and sets the parameters automatically. Standard features include absolute/incremental programming, axes preset, zero reset and inch/metric conversion.

All Fagor grinding DRO systems are offered with a 3-year parts warranty on the entire system, extended 5 years on the digital readout and a lifetime warranty on the scale extrusions.
