Collet Chucking Systems

Dunham 5C Collet Chuck for A2-5 Spindle

Dunham Air Collet Chuck

Dunham Air Collet Closer-Oil Mist Model

Dunham Tool offers a variety of through hole collet chucking systems and air collet chucks.

"Dunham Tool has improved its through hole collet chucking systems so that they are more easily and efficiently adaptable to lathes, rotary tables, cylindrical grinders and special machines," said a company spokesperson. "These collet chucks are designed for use with a drawtube (existing on the machine or provided by Dunham) and therefore are used for through hole applications. They are designed for direct mounting to all American standard, camlock and flat spindle nose configurations (A2-4, A2-6, A2-8, D1-4, D1-6, D1-8, 110MM, 140MM, etc.) as well as all rotary table makes and models and many special machine designs. The precision Dunham collect chuck design also provides for highly precise concentricity and positioning adjustment, as well as other unique features."

Dunham air collet closers are designed for mounting to the rear of all lathe spindles and rotary tables as well as many special machine applications; all Dunham mounting adapters are manufactured specifically for all lathes, rotary tables, grinders and special machines. A Dunham drawtube connects to the Dunham air collet closer, and the drawtube goes through the machine spindle where it connects to the Dunham collet chuck and collet installed on the front end of the spindle, rotary table, etc. Dunham air devices are specified because air pressure is highly adjustable and because of the high speed actuation with air pressure. Workholding pressure is therefore highly adjustable for a wide variety of thin wall, fragile, high surface finish or other special needs or standard workpieces, according to the company.

Ideal for use or retrofit on lathes, rotary tables, special machines, Dunham spindles and many cylindrical grinders, the Dunham air collet closers/cylinders are double action - designed for positive air activation and deactivation. Dunham air collet closers are designed for typical lathe applications of 2,000 to 6,000 RPM as well as slower controlled rotation applications such as CNC rotary tables, rotary welding/laser machines, etc. According to the company, they are highly durable and the mechanical actions are highly accurate and repeatable.

Dunham through hole collet chucking kits include the appropriate collet chuck and air collet closer as well as all mounting adapters designed specifically for American standard, camlock spindles and all rotary tables and grinder nose configurations. Also included are Dunham drawtubes and hand or foot valve kits.

Designed for use in either rotary or stationary applications, the precision Dunham air collet chuck provides for precise concentricity and positioning adjustment. According to the company, workholding pressure is highly adjustable based on the fine adjustment characteristics of controlled air pressure.

"Ideal for use on tilting rotary tables, cylindrical grinders or dial index tables, the Dunham air collet chuck is designed for air activation and spring deactivation," said the spokesperson. "It is highly durable and the mechanical action is highly accurate and repeatable."

Dunham mounting adapters are designed for American standard and camlock spindles as well as all rotary table and grinder nose configurations. Also included are rotary unions, hand or foot valve kits, air tubes and center plugs for central location of the rotary unions and air tubes.
