RMT Robotics Joins Muratec Group as Part of Cimcorp Acquisition

RMT Robotics, a Cimcorp Oy company that manufactures and integrates robotic gantry-based order fulfillment and tire handling technology, has joined the Muratec Group as part of the acquisition of Cimcorp Oy and its subsidiaries by Kyoto, Japan-based Murata Machinery, Ltd. (Muratec). Together, the companies will provide material handling technology to a global client base. Both Muratec and Cimcorp will continue business operations going forward with no change to their current strategies.

Daisuke Murata, President and CEO, Murata Machinery, Ltd., said, "With this acquisition, both companies will be able to offer customers the systems for which they are already well known, as well as the full advantage of the attractive, complementary systems of both Muratec and Cimcorp. From now on, the Muratec-Cimcorp Group can truly be a one stop shop. Our promise is to only improve for our customers' benefit."

"Muratec and Cimcorp are worldwide leaders in their respective fields in the material handling industry," said a spokesperson. "With more than $2.02 billion in annual sales, Muratec is ranked as having the fourth highest annual sales in the world amongst solution providers for material handling systems. Ulvila, Finland-based Cimcorp, with estimated 2014 revenue of $75.65 million, is the top supplier for intralogistics in the tire industry and has unique solutions for a variety of retail and distribution customers."

Martti Artama, President, Cimcorp Oy, said, "Starting immediately, both companies will utilize possibilities to enhance service coverage through the networks each company has established globally, targeting best-in-class service performance to our customers. For the future, we aim to introduce new innovations for various manufacturing and distribution industries by integrating the experience and know-how that both Muratec and Cimcorp have developed."

Cimcorp acquired Canada-based RMT Robotics in 2010, adding extensive case picking, automation and robotic capabilities to its portfolio of material handling products.

Doug Pickard, President, RMT Robotics, a Cimcorp Oy company, said, "Together with Muratec, we are convinced we can deliver very compelling offers and high return on our customers' investments. RMT Robotics is looking forward to the great possibilities that the Muratec-Cimcorp Group can offer our customers both today and into the future."
