Rough and Fine Turning in a Small Footprint

The FBL-510MC, which can be used for pipe threading, features a compact size.

Chevalier's FBL-510MC, designed for pipe threading and other operations for gas, oil and other related industries, features dimensions of 21.5' L x 9.8' W to eliminate excess floor space.

The machine features dual chuck capability with a 12.5" spindle bore diameter. According to the company, the slant bed lathes are stable, highly accurate machines that can handle rough and fine turning operations. The three-speed gearbox is designed to provide enough horsepower for large diameter, heavy-duty cutting.

Specifications of the FBL-510MC include:

  • Structure: Heat treated to Rockwell 55° and stress relieved. Features a 45° slant-bed design comprised of single-piece Meehanite cast iron with wide-span, ribbed box structure. For stability and support, the machine provides box guide ways that are 5" wide by 3.15" thick.
  • Capacity: Spindle bore diameter is 12.5", which suits most oil industry applications. Maximum swing diameter is 44.7"; cutting diameter is 34.6". The dual chuck has an easy access design that provides convenience of loading and unloading longer parts. Turret speed is 3,000 RPM and turret power is 15 HP.
  • Power: A 60 HP spindle motor features a three-stage gearbox and generates 4,135 NM torque that satisfies most cutting conditions of large diameter work pieces or tough material applications, according to Chevalier.
  • Turret: A large 200 mm thick disk and the hydraulic clamping of its curvic coupling design is intended to provide cutting stability during rough turning environments. Features include a 12 BMT85 station hydraulic turret and 1.25" OD shank.
  • Tailstock: Optional programmable quill in/out and base position. Live quill with MT 6 rotating center is a standard feature.
  • Control: FANUC 0i-TD control with 10.4" LCD color screen and conversational Manual Guide i.
