Star SU has available a variety of new gear cutting tools. These include gear hobs, milling cutters, shaper cutters, shaving cutters, chamfer and deburring tools, rack and saw cutters, master gears and ring and plug gauges.
Precision tool re-sharpening services are also available from Star SU and advanced coatings, including Oerlikon Balzer's Alcrona Pro, can extend the life of tools and lower costs. For tool room management, Star SU can monitor the life cycle of tools and re-sharpen, re-coat and replace them as needed.
Star SU also offers a variety of tool and cutter grinders, including:
- PTG-1: Star's PTG-1 sharpens both straight and spiral gash hob designs up to 8" OD x 10" OAL. Additionally, it sharpens disk, shank and helical type shaper cutters and a wide range of round tools.
- GS 400: The GS 400 is designed to grind shaving cutters and master gears. An integrated measuring unit automatically checks the quality of the first tooth ground without unclamping the workpiece.
