MD Calibrations Receives A2LA Recertification

Rita Roy, ISO Accreditation Team Leader and Quality Manager at MD Calibrations, prepares for A2LA Renewal of Accreditation for ISO 17025 Audit.

"MD Calibrations, committed to high quality and technical competence, pursued and received recertification from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA)," said Rita Roy, Quality Manager, MD Calibrations. This meets the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Guide 25 requirements/1990 and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/National Conference of Standards International (NCSLI) Z540-1-1994.

A year after securing accreditation for ISO 17025 as a Testing and Calibration Laboratory by A2LA in July 2012, Rita Roy, Quality Manager; Mike Denomme, Engineering Manager; and Jeanne Denomme, Office Manager; prepared MD Calibrations to pass the rigorous Surveillance Renewal Audit conducted by A2LA in order to remain an accredited laboratory. The year of preparation included internal audits, customer audits, employee training, proficiency testing and meticulous quality record keeping.

A2LA is a nonprofit, non-governmental, public service membership society. A2LA provides comprehensive services in laboratory accreditation and laboratory-related training. Laboratory accreditation is based on international acceptance criteria for competence (ISO/IEC 17025:2005). A2LA also offers programs for accreditation of inspection bodies, proficiency testing providers, reference material producers and product certification bodies.

The renewal audit at MD Calibrations took place June 21st, 2013, conducted by A2LA's Dimensional Metrologist and Assessor, Walter Lehmus, from Manchester, CT. His training at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and 38 years experience in the field qualify him to assess techniques involved in ISO 17025 and ANSI/NCSLI Z540-2 measurement requirements.

The assessment consisted of eight hours of auditing. "I am recording today's surveillance assessment at MD Calibrations with zero deficiencies," said Walter Lehmus, concluding the audit.

"A2LA's accreditation should create confidence in the quality, competence and integrity of A2LA-accredited organizations - services such as those offered by MD Calibrations, LLC," said MD Calibrations' President and Founder Michael Denomme.

MD Calibrations is a provider of independent services for machine tool calibration, machine tool leadscrew compensation, machine tool performance verification and the certification of high accuracy machine tools in the USA. "Our process combines state-of-the-art measuring equipment with proprietary compensation algorithms that results in the reduction of compensation time and improvement in machine tool performance," said Mike Denomme. MD Calibrations offers regional and on-site training for all hardware and software sold.
