Hurco Expands Multi-Axis Turning Lineup with the TM10MYi

Hurco's newest CNC turning center, the TM10MYi, is built to do more in a single set-up-and do it with precision, rigidity and speed, the company announced.

"Designed for shops that need the flexibility of live tooling, the efficiency of Y-axis capability and the muscle to handle heavier turning, this slant-bed lathe bridges the gap between standard 2-axis machines and full multi-axis machining centers," said a company spokesperson.

At the heart of the TM10MYi is its combination of turning and milling capability. The BMT55 turret-chosen for its strength and rigidity over smaller formats-allows the TM10MYi to handle complex geometries without chatter or deflection. Paired with servo-driven live tooling that reaches 5,000 RPM, it can perform high-performance milling, drilling and tapping right on the lathe. That means pockets, slots and off-center features can be machined without moving the part to another machine, reducing set-ups, errors and downtime.

With a generous maximum turning length of 25" and a 15.75" maximum turning diameter, the TM10MYi offers capacity for larger workpieces. Its main spindle delivers 17 HP and 108.4 ft-lbs. of torque, allowing it to handle tough materials while maintaining surface finish and accuracy. From stainless steel flanges to large aluminum housings, the TM10MYi is ready for production or one-off precision work, the company reported.

"Hurco engineers designed the TM10MYi for accuracy that lasts," said the spokesperson. "Linear roller ways reduce vibration and increase rigidity, while the slant-bed design optimizes chip flow and ergonomics for operators. These features, combined with Hurco's proven build quality, help maintain tight tolerances over years of heavy use."

Like all Hurco machines, the TM10MYi comes equipped with the WinMax control, which offers conversational programming and NC programming, and uniquely, the ability to merge the two in a single program. This flexibility allows machinists to program the way they work best, whether they prefer writing G-code or using Hurco's intuitive conversational interface.

Popular WinMax features include:

  • UltiPocket for automatically calculating tool paths around islands in pocket machining
  • Advanced Verification Graphics with 3D solid rendering to prove out programs before cutting
  • 3D Import so users can program directly from STP or DXF files at the control
  • Data Block Search to quickly find and edit specific lines of code.

"The result is a lathe that is as easy to program as it is capable on the shop floor," said the spokesperson. "For job shops and manufacturers alike, the TM10MYi offers the productivity benefits of multi-axis capability without the learning curve or cost of more complex machines."
