Mazak Corp. will highlight the performance and reliability of its VC-Ez 20 3-axis VMC at Manufacturing Technology Series SOUTHEAST 2025.
Designed and built in Kentucky, the machine incorporates Mazak's MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC and is optimized for simple operation with fast and easy installation. Like all machines in the VC-Ez Series, it offers enhanced ergonomics, stable part processing and long-term dependability.
The standard model includes a 40-taper, 12,000 RPM, 18 kW (25 HP) spindle and a 30-tool automatic tool changer. Options include a 15,000 RPM, 22 kW (29.5 HP) spindle with 110 Nm (81.13 ft-lbs.) of torque and a 50-tool changer.
For part size flexibility, the VC-Ez 20 offers axis travels of 41.34" in X, 20.08" in Y and 25" in Z (1,050 mm by 510 mm by 635 mm). It accommodates workpieces up to 49.21" (1,250 mm) long, 19.37" (492 mm) wide and 22.4" (569 mm) tall and part weights up to 2,204 lbs. (999.72 kg).
Traverse rates reach 1,654 IPM (42,011.6 mm/min) in all axes. The machine's footprint measures 102.65 sq. ft. (9.54 sq. m), about 26.5% smaller than other models.
The C-frame design uses X- and Y-axis motion through a moving table and saddle. MX linear roller guide systems and pre-tensioned ball screws provide rigidity and repeatable precision. An auger-type chip removal system is standard; an optional hinge-type conveyor ships attached to the machine to reduce delivery costs.
To streamline VC-Ez 20 machine programming and shorten the learning curve for new operators, the MAZATROL SmoothEz CNC includes full MAZATROL conversational programming and EIA/ISO programming compatibility along with QUICK MAZATROL for easy part-program creation and confirmation and MAZATROL TWINS for offline part programming. The SMOOTH Machining Configurator optimizes cutting parameters in real time and Intelligent Thermal Shield improves thermal stability and part quality.
The redesigned LAUNCHER screen uses the entire display panel to streamline screen selection and appears in icon form on every screen with single-touch transition buttons to reach the home or a previous screen. The control is responsive, efficient and easy to learn even for new operators. To speed programming, the control's QUICK MAZATROL function simplifies program creation and confirmation through touchscreen editing and confirmation of 3D models.
Shops also can opt for a variety of options including a rotary table, filter tray, dual probe kit, auger chip conveyor, through-spindle or Niagara coolant and Mazak's SUPERFLOW 1,000-PSI (6.895 MPa) high-pressure coolant system. Other user-friendly options include a programmable coolant nozzle and programmable air nozzle, both controlled via M-code or from a separate panel for hands-free nozzle adjustment, 180°+ range of motion and precision reach for every tool.
To further increase productivity and conserve shop floor space, VC-Ez Series machines store tools outside the machine with Mazak's Ez Tool Station, which often eliminates the need for separate tool carts.
