OMAX to Spotlight Waterjet Innovations

OMAX Corporation will demonstrate its 60120 JetMachining Center.

OMAX Corporation will showcase advanced abrasive waterjet technology that is designed to cut simple to complex shapes from a variety of materials. The company will unveil its advancements in micromachining as well as demonstrate its OMAX JetMachining Centers, MAXIEM JetCutting Centers and features of its cutting head accessories.

OMAX's waterjet-based micromachining targets manufacturing segments that produce parts or part features smaller than 300 microns. The company will share many of its recent achievements in micro-abrasive waterjet technology at EMO.

The company's lineup of OMAX JetMachining Centers, which consists of cantilever and bridge-style machines, is available in table sizes that range from 1.2 meters by 0.8 meters all the way up to 8.1 meters by 4.1 meters.

"The 60120 will exemplify the JetMachining Center lineup at the show, demonstrating how these waterjets easily handle a wide range of production runs across various industry segments and cut complex components from virtually any material," said a company spokesperson. "The 60120 will also show how the company's intuitive Intelli-MAX Software Suite, which OMAX features on all of its JetMachining Centers, provides higher cutting speeds and greater precision than competitive designs.

"With a Tilt-A-Jet cutting head accessory, the 60120 is able to achieve zero taper for precision cutting of high tolerance parts with square edges, including interlocking pieces and dovetail fittings. Through the Intelli-MAX control software, the Tilt-A-Jet automatically calculates and adjusts the angle of the cutting nozzle to accurately remove the natural taper from the finished part by transferring it to the scrap material - all while maintaining extremely high cutting speeds.

"OMAX Corporation will share the real-world results of its MAXIEM JetCutting Centers via the 1515 model. Robust and versatile, these machines are ideal for fabrication shops, metal service centers, trade schools and job shops. With X-Y cutting travels that range between 0.8 meters by 0.8 meters and 16.3 meters by 4.1 meters, MAXIEM JetCutting Centers productively cut components from a wide variety of materials, including metal, plastic, glass, ceramics, stone and composites.

"With an A-Jet cutting head accessory, the MAXIEM 1515 is able to make precise angled cuts and bevels, as well as automatically correct for the taper normally found in an abrasive waterjet cut. Supplied with a MAXJET 5i, a premier long-life diamond integrated nozzle, the A-Jet cuts beveled edges at angles determined by either the machine operator or part program. The A-Jet adds two motion axes, enabling the nozzle to tilt over a range of 0 to 60 from the vertical position. It can also be used to easily cut countersunk holes, as well as machine parts with complex geometries. With its additional axes of motion, the A-Jet allows production of beveled edges in preparation for welding operations. Furthermore, use of this accessory eliminates the need for many secondary machining and grinding operations."
