meviy Expands CNC Milling Capabilities, Adds Heat Treatment Options

meviy, the on-demand custom parts manufacturing service developed by MISUMI Group, Inc., has announced the immediate availability of expanded part sizes and large metric taps for CNC milling, providing engineers and designers with greater flexibility and new options for demanding applications.

The new maximum part size for CNC milling is now up to 1,000 mm (L) x 600 mm (W) x 70 mm (T) (40" x 24" x 3") with a maximum weight of 19.5 kg/43 lbs., available for automatic quotation through meviy. For even larger parts, manual quotes are now possible for parts up to 2,000 mm (approx. 80"), further extending meviy's capability to support large-scale components such as base plates, rails and frames.

In addition to larger part sizes, meviy now offers large metric taps for applications that require high holding forces and extensive thread engagement, such as structural assemblies needing high strength and durability over many cycles. Engineers can now automatically quote tapped holes up to M24, with manual quotes available for tapped holes up to M36.

With the addition of heat treatment, meviy now enables customers to select from a range of treatment types and hardness levels to meet precise design requirements.

Engineers can specify full part hardening methods, choosing from two advanced options to suit diverse manufacturing needs:

  • Immersion quenching: Using a conventional furnace and oil bath, this quick and cost-effective method offers reliable results for a wide variety of parts.
  • Vacuum quenching: This advanced technique uses a vacuum furnace and gradual quenching process to minimize part distortion and achieve an improved surface finish.

Heat treatment is available for CNC milled parts within the following size range: maximum size: 150 mm x 150 mm x 60 mm; minimum size: 10 mm x 10 mm x 8 mm.

Additionally, meviy offers a wide range of standard and selectable hardness values for various materials, giving engineers the flexibility to manufacture components with optimal mechanical properties for strength, wear resistance and durability. Current supported materials and hardness ranges include 1049 steel, 30-50 HRCD2 steel, 50-63 HRC4140 alloy steel and 30-55 HRC.
