Condition Monitoring with a Digital Fingerprint

Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH now provides its customers with the most important drive and actuator data from a machine-its digital fingerprint-as a service to simplify and accelerate machine diagnostics. This makes condition monitoring easier and reduces maintenance costs, the company reported.

Liebherr machines are diagnosed as standard before delivery to determine the original fingerprint. This individual, mechanical fingerprint of the machine provides information about its main drive axes and facilitates machine diagnostics in the event of maintenance or malfunctions. Previously, a service technician had to record the data on site or via a remote service for subsequent analysis and evaluation.

To simplify and speed up machine diagnostics for the customer, Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH is now introducing the digital fingerprint as software on the machine. This means that the customer can record the data themselves at any time, free of charge-and this can also be done before the start of a shift or at a shift handover due to the short recording time. Liebherr service employees can then evaluate and analyze the data and quickly send a report with recommendations on how to proceed to the customer. This avoids unplanned downtimes and increases machine availability.

"The use of the digital fingerprint is a clear recommendation as part of the maintenance contract," said a company spokesperson. "By optimizing the coordination of maintenance and repair measures, it allows maintenance activities to be precisely synchronized. The provision of materials can also be significantly improved with the digital fingerprint. This facilitates preventive maintenance of the machines, reduces downtime and lowers maintenance costs in the long term. How frequently data is collected can be flexibly adapted to the utilization of the machines-and this can help to extend their service life."
