SaaS and AI Security Packages Tackle Rising Risks

AppOmni, a provider of SaaS security solutions, has expanded its platform to combat emerging artificial intelligence (AI) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) risks, with new AI security capabilities designed to give organizations control over their SaaS and AI applications.

The new innovations are designed to empower security teams to understand their risk exposure to AI and implement controls to secure them by identifying sanctioned and unsanctioned, or shadow AI applications, including AI embedded within SaaS applications. The platform also features enhanced threat detection, allowing organizations to search, investigate, and govern apps in real time without guesswork, and support for 30 new AI and SaaS applications, including AI native apps such as Anthropic, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, as well as Cisco Umbrella, Cisco Secure Access, Gong, and OpenAI. AppOmni additionally introduced three new product packages specifically curated to meet enterprises at every stage of their SaaS security maturity journey.

"The rapid adoption of AI has introduced a new and complex attack surface that security teams must manage, as evidenced by high profile breaches and the attention from watchdogs like The Cybersecurity Infrastructure & Security Agency (CISA)," said a company spokesperson. "AI is an active participant in the enterprise SaaS environment; whether embedded in SaaS platforms (such as M365 or Google Workspace) or acting as agents, AI tools constantly access and process sensitive data across the SaaS estate. The Venn diagram of SaaS and native AI apps is rapidly merging, as AI becomes a built-in layer across nearly every SaaS application in the very near future. To address these risks, organizations need the ability to identify unsanctioned or shadow AI and SaaS usage, as well as practical strategies to control and monitor AI usage. AppOmni is defining the future of SaaS and AI security by arming enterprises of all sizes with the end-to-end controls needed for safe usage of these applications, helping them identify critical risks, protect sensitive data, detect abnormal behavior, and respond to evolving threats."

"Securing AI is now a board-level priority, and that battle must be fought within the SaaS ecosystem," said Brian Soby, co-founder and CTO of AppOmni. "AI and SaaS security are two sides of the same coin since much of AI is delivered through SaaS. The first step for any organization is to discover its shadow AI and SaaS usage. AppOmni is leading the charge by first exposing shadow AI, and then securing its use through policy controls for both standalone AI tools and AI embedded within SaaS applications. These innovations empower organizations to embrace AI by taking a comprehensive approach to SaaS security."

The three new product packages are designed so organizations can begin with and grow their SaaS security footprint with AppOmni as they mature:

  • Foundations: A starter package for getting started with SaaS security, Foundations is designed for those who need to discover shadow SaaS and AI, and app users and permission, and detect threats and anomalous activities. It provides an easy SaaS security entry point and shines the light on shadow SaaS and AI use-capabilities that the majority of organizations are seeking.
  • Advanced: Designed for large organizations, the Advanced package adds more sophisticated threat detection capabilities and SaaS security posture controls.
  • Enterprise: Designed for larger organizations with the highest level of SaaS security maturity, this option provides full, granular control over baseline SaaS security posture and rule set catalogs while enabling deep integration of the SaaS security program with the existing security stack.
