CNC Systems, Inc. offers the Vision Wide ASM Series-a 5-axis mill-turn center with a strong track record of successful installations worldwide, the company reported.
Designed for industries such as die/mold, aerospace, energy, automotive, and job shops, the ASM Series eliminates the need to transfer workpieces between multiple machines. Operations like turning, milling, and full 5-axis machining are all achieved on one versatile platform.
The Vision Wide ASM 5-axis mill-turn center is available in eight models with table sizes of 1,000 mm, 1,200 mm, and 1,500 mm. Users can choose from single-pallet or two-pallet configurations or opt for a fully automated multipallet system. The robust 45° universal milling head offers heavy duty milling and turning functions.
"Compared to trunnion-style 5-axis machines, the ASM offers superior load capacity, unobstructed access for set-up, and the flexibility to handle larger or heavier parts," said a company spokesperson. "With high acceleration, rapid feedrates, and synchronized axes for cylindrical components, it excels in machining aerospace parts, tire molds, turbine blades, and aluminum components."
The ASM integrates a 5-axis universal head direct-drive system powered by D.D. motors. Through detailed topology analysis, it achieves optimal distance between the tool center point and the B-axis transmission, enhancing precision and stability. The system includes complete tool and part probing, as well as advanced 5-axis kinematic calibration.
Key features
- Multi-axis capability: Siemens and HEIDENHAIN CNC controls offer simultaneous 5-axis machining for complex parts, minimizing set-ups.
- Integrated milling and turning: Perform both processes in a single set-up for complete part machining.
- High performance: Designed for high acceleration and rapid feedrates, effective for both heavy and fine machining.
- Rigid structure: Robust box-frame design, direct-drive rotary shafts, and thermal compensation enable high accuracy.
- Flexible applications: Suited for large-scale components such as aerospace structures, turbine blades, and molds.
- Automatic tool changer (ATC): Chain-type ATC available with 40, 60, or 116 tool positions.
- Automation options: Supports automatic pallet changers (APC) and other automation enhancements.
- Scalable construction: Modular "building block" design allows increased Z-axis travel and column height for taller parts.
- Precision and performance data
- Positioning accuracy: ±0.006 mm
- Repeatability: ±0.0055 mm
- Spindle thermal compensation: 0.02 mm
- Rapid traverse: 40 m/min
- Acceleration: 0.3 G
- Cutting feedrate: 24 m/min.
"The advantages of the Vision Wide family lie in its variety of machine sizes, compact footprints, and flexible spindle configurations-making it possible to achieve large machining capacity within limited floor space," said the spokesperson.
CNC Systems' nationwide distributor network provides comprehensive sales, service, and support for the Vision Wide ASM Series and all other machine tools it imports.
