One of the key new machines in HELLER's HF Series is the HF 5500 APC MTe. The combined milling and turning in this horizontal 5-axis pallet changer machining center provides the user with enhanced flexibility in production and, with fewer part set-ups, provides increased cutting accuracy and faster cycle times.
The MTe (Mill/Turn Enforced) comes standard with enforced Z and A drives for better, more accurate precision machining. Also, standard is a counter bearing and highly dynamic torque drives in the NC rotary swivel table, offering precision, repeatability, and heavier part support.
HELLER's horizontal machines provide free chip fall below the spindle and quick evacuation from the work area. This design enables fast and efficient chip removal, a critical factor for consistent, high-precision machining. The steep stainless-steel side panels, together with the bed and sealing coolant flush, help ensure a clean and fully protected work area.
For operators with projects that require contour machining, they can also add the optional HELLER facing slide unit (U-axis). The U-axis actuation is a full-fledged NC axis integrated in the machine control. HELLER's U-axis is designed for internal or external contour boring and/or facing operations.
The HF Series provides the operator with optimal ergonomic access to all working areas. "Whether at the workpiece loading station, during tool loading, programming, or maintenance-safety, comfort and, above all, the productivity of your manufacturing operations always take priority," said a company spokesperson.
