Next-Generation 5-Axis High-Speed Machining Center

WIA Machine Tools has unveiled its next-generation 5-axis high-speed machining center, the KF6500/5A. Developed by combining the company's long-accumulated technical expertise with the latest machine tool technologies, the KF6500/5A is a VMC that offers increased performance in complex-shape machining.

The new model places strong emphasis on user convenience. A large front door has been applied to allow easy loading and unloading of workpieces using a crane, while a large viewing window enables operators to intuitively check machining status. Enhanced usability features such as an ATC door for manual tool changes, a touch-panel sub-operation unit, a state-of-the-art 19" touch monitor, and a laptop-style operation panel have been newly incorporated into the design.

The KF6500/5A also supports one of the largest workpiece capacities in its class-O25.59" x height 19.685"-and provides a table rotation speed of 30 RPM. Optional coolant nozzles improve workpiece cleaning efficiency after machining, and cooling options for the ball screw and LM guide help minimize thermal displacement during long hours of operation, further enhancing precision, convenience, and stability.

"In terms of machining performance, the model achieves optimal specifications," said a company spokesperson. "It adopts a wall-type structure for high precision and rigidity, roller LM guides to support higher axis speeds, multiple high-speed spindle options tailored to customer needs, and a roller gear cam-driven 5-axis table that minimizes backlash while ensuring smooth rotation and high precision-delivering exceptional productivity in high-speed, high-accuracy machining environments."

To accommodate manufacturing environments with frequent production volume fluctuations, WIA Machine Tools also offers the Automatic Workpiece Changer (AWC) unmanned automation system as an option, enabling customers to achieve extended unmanned machining and maximize productivity.

The spokesperson added: "The KF6500/5A is the result of our focused R&D efforts to strengthen our product portfolio in the North American manufacturing market and directly connect customer productivity enhancements to increased profitability."
