Small-Diameter Bar Stock Solution

Edge Technologies, provider of magazine bar feeding solutions for the production turning segment, offers its latest innovations in the Ranger 120, a solution for sliding headstock shops running small-diameter bar stock.

"We have thought through all the details that go into loading, separating, and feeding small diameter bars down to 1 mm," said Kevin Meehan, President of Edge Technologies. "The result is a feature-rich model with an oscillating sawtooth separation magazine and an easy-adjust pneumatic gripper at an economical price."

Versatility was the goal of the Ranger 120. For starters, the magazine easily converts from a standard 10" incline plane for larger diameters to a sawtooth separation magazine for diameters under 3 mm. Two guide channel sets come standard and are always stored in the machine. A changeover is as simple as rotating a trunnion-style carriage 180°.

The Ranger 120 is equipped with a pneumatic self-centering gripper with a quick-adjust knob to simplify gripper pressure settings for small delicate bars. A soft load feature has been added to ease small bars into the channel to eliminate bar rebound and misloads.

The Ranger 120 has new sheet metal in a grey and cream color scheme and has also been upgraded to a Schneider PLC motion control system and new Delta HMI.
