OMIC R&D Joins America Makes to Advance AM Capabilities

The Oregon Manufacturing Innovation Center, Research and Development (OMIC R&D) has officially joined America Makes, a public-private partnership for additive manufacturing (AM) technology and education.

The membership, established under OMIC R&D's ?duciary host, Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech), re?ects the university's support in advancing research, workforce development, and innovation in AM.

Oregon Tech, through its world-class research center OMIC R&D, aims to expand its capabilities in metal AM and further strengthen its role as a hub for advanced manufacturing innovation in the Paci?c Northwest. The membership will enable Oregon Tech faculty and OMIC R&D to collaborate with a national network of industry, government, and academic partners working to accelerate the adoption of AM technologies and enhance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness.

"Joining America Makes aligns perfectly with our mission to drive innovation and collaboration across the manufacturing ecosystem," said Don Hendrickson, Executive Director of OMIC R&D. "This partnership gives us access to a network of national leaders in AM and will help us advance research that supports our members, strengthens regional supply chains, and builds the workforce of the future."

"Our involvement with America Makes reinforces Oregon Tech's and OMIC R&D's shared commitment to advancing applied research and education in AM. Through this membership, we gain valuable access to national resources, expertise, and collaborative opportunities that will accelerate innovation and prepare students to lead in this rapidly evolving ?eld," said Dr. Mostafa Saber, a Professor of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering and Technology at Oregon Tech. Saber will serve as the primary contact with America Makes.
