


Giant Tooling System for High-Precision, Heavy-Duty Machining

EROWA has unveiled its latest innovation, the patented Giant Tooling System (GTS) for the machining of large and heavy workpieces. It is engineered specifically for rotary applications such as mill-turn machining and is suited for demanding manufacturing environments.
At the core of the system is EROWA's zero-point tooling technology, which enables rapid and precise workpiece changes. This reduces machine set-up times and downtime-boosting overall efficiency and productivity. With the GTS, a wide range of large workpieces can be accurately positioned and securely fastened in record time, the company reported.
Each GTS chuck delivers a clamping force of 80 kN, enabling a rigid and vibration-resistant connection to the machine table. "The result is superior machining stability, improved surface quality, and greater overall process consistency," said a company spokesperson.
The modular design of the GTS allows flexible configurations-chucks can be arranged to accommodate varying pallet sizes, fixture set-ups, and specific production requirements. Operation remains simple and intuitive: GTS clamping rings are mounted on the workpiece carrier or fixture and are automatically and precisely engaged in the GTS chucks.
The GTS is also built for automated operation. "Integrated safety and monitoring features-such as hydraulic open/close control and pneumatic surface cleaning-ensure reliable chuck operation and protection against contamination," said the spokesperson. "Together, these systems guarantee secure positioning and smooth processing, even under challenging conditions, and deliver a future-proof solution for evolving production demands."
